Devlog #2 - Making Waves
Introduction
For the last month, the KoiPond team has been hard at work. We’re pleased to share that things are moving very quick now on our end, and you lovely Koi fishies can expect massive improvements and feature additions to start rolling out. We’ve made some important improvements in the short term to make our platform more accessible, easier to use, and cheaper to use. We’ve also made great headway on our new roadmap, preparing to usher in the next stage in KoiPond’s development. Let’s dive in!
Live Changes
Mobile Site Update
We’ve made some important changes to KoiPond for mobile. Mobile users make up a large portion of KoiPond’s user base, and our app was not meeting their needs to the degree it should have been. We made sure to go through page by page and update the mobile site to improve readability and usability of different components of the site, and squash some pesky bugs. The updated mobile experience is significantly better to use, and serves to make KoiPond more accessible to a variety of new users. Our site V2 will take this a step further, with desktop and mobile interfaces being highly optimized for either platform.
Reduced Cost Approvals
In our continual effort to save our treasured community more of their money, we’ve taken some time to work on lowering gas costs. An important way we’re doing so is by reducing the number of times users must call approval transactions, and in some cases even removing the need for an approval transaction entirely. On our listings and wrap/unwrap app now, users need only sign one approval to commit to a listing, or wrap and unwrap indefinitely (unless revoked).
Along with the release of buckets and staking, we will also roll out fully gasless approvals. You will simply sign a message before committing or staking dKOI or KOI, and the approval will happen automatically.
Style Changes
We’ve changed copy in a few spots, primarily on the landing page, to clarify KoiPond’s purpose, goals, and values to new and existing users. We’ve also updated the styling to be more cohesive and flow better in a few places; the landing page, the mobile nav bar, the nav bar, and the wrapping/unwrapping page. We haven’t gone too heavy into this, as we’re progressing quickly on our V2 site + app.
Progress
Staking
We’re in the process of putting the finishing touches on staking. At last, KoiPond users will be able to earn a share in the revenue generated from the use of the platform. Expect staking to roll out very shortly, within the next couple of days. Full article coming with release.
Buckets
We’ve been making steady progress towards the release of buckets for KoiPond. If you’re unfamiliar, we first announced buckets in our new roadmap article, found here: https://chronicles.koipond.fi/the-road-ahead-koiponds-journey-of-growth/. Buckets will be one of the more important additions to KoiPond, enabling better accessibility to our platform for both users and projects alike. On every listing we do, KOI will still maintain a fairly large share of the total raise amount, and we’ll be looking to work out KOI specific benefits on a case-by-case basis. For example, this could mean that those who commit KOI vs ETH or USDC get an NFT, points, or some other benefit from the listed project.
Website V2
As previously announced, we’re making great headway on our V2 app. This means a vastly improved experience for desktop and mobile, a greatly simplified and more informative listing experience, native BRC20 integrations, a BRC20 bridge, guides and education for users, and more. We think you guys will love it, and it will expand the potential reach of KoiPond tremendously.
Conclusion
As we continue to make progress on our roadmap and implement new features, we want to express our gratitude to the KoiPond community for their support. Your trust and belief in our mission drive us to work tirelessly to deliver the best possible experience for our users.
The recent improvements to our mobile site, reduced cost approvals, and style changes are just the beginning. With staking, buckets, and our V2 website on the horizon, we're excited to offer even more value and accessibility to our platform.
We remain committed to our goal of becoming the premier launchpad for the most promising projects in the crypto space.
Stay tuned for more updates, and as always, happy fishing!
